that once "empty" resevoirs of petroleum are now refilled. even if this is not true, which i believe it is, w/ the oil in Alaska, sand, shale, and other areas still un-drilled, we have plenty of time left. there is this idea that the earth is "fragile" and "weak" and that us humans are oh-so-damn powerful that we can actually affect it, but we cannot. for instance, during a volcanic erruption in the 1980's (can't quite think of the name), more toxic carcinogens and other "harmful" gases were released then those of EVERY internal combustion engine combined. you should really read more about it, as it becomes quite interesting when you filter out the tree huggin' hippies uneducated and emotionally driven ideas and read those w/ some real scientific backing. :) sorry for my rude remark earlier, i just get so sick of hearing about how us humans or so damn terrible for this earth and how the earth wasn't "designed" for us to inhabit it. -James p.s. if you would like to talk about it some more, feel free to email me.
